David de Gea is set to perform a sensational U-turn and commit his long-term future toManchester United, according to reports in Spain.
The Spaniard, who has only one year left on his contract at OId Trafford, wanted to joinReal Madrid in the summer and has not been selected by Louis van Gaal so far this season.
But, after Real made their move for the 24-year-old on deadline day, the proposed switch collapsed in dramatic fashion, withboth clubs blaming each other for the failure to get a deal done.
Now, according to El Confidencial, De Gea has had a change of heart over his future and is set to stay at United long-term.
The newspaper is reporting that De Gea's agent, Jorge Mendes, has fallen out of favour with the Real Madrid hierarchy and is trying to agree a bumper new United contract.
De Gea is understood to have held clear-the-air talks with Van Gaal earlier this week and could be recalled for Saturday's visit ofLiverpool.
